Welcome to Conscious Creations by Tara. My name is Tara, the creator of this brand. I'm a surfer, a yogi and fashion designer.

A few years ago, I started upcycling my own wardrobe with nothing more than my aunts sewing machine, and a bunch of old clothes I wasn't wearing anymore. By turning them into items I loved, I gave them a second life and started wearing them again. Since there was only so much upcycling I could do from my own wardrobe, I soon started browsing through thriftshops. I upcycled old blazers into dresses, and dresses into miniskirts, 80s blouses into crop tops! I didn't follow any pattern I improvised a lot, and just went with my own creativity. Over the years, I took a designer and a sewing course, and I -reluctantly- traded my aunts machine for a new one.

What started as my own little statement against the fast fashion industry, has now evolved into my own label:

Conscious Creations by Tara.

I make slow fashion for women who live consciously and in contact with nature. We surf, travel, do yoga, and want to look beautiful doing all of it. It's my mission to show there's an alternative to fast fashion, through unique handmade creations.

Everything you find here is handmade by me, in my living room/ tiny atelier in the Netherlands. I work with natural fabrics, bought at my local fabric market in Utrecht, to create pieces that last longer than a season.
